On Thursday, WHOOP announced two new portable devices, whoop 5.0 and Whoop MG, the slimmer hardware, a longer battery life and additional findings in app health.

Both new devices of the company are chosen for around the clock.

The WHOOP 5.0 and the WHOOP-MG support 14 days of battery life, which triples the range of four to five days offered by WHOOP 4.0. The new hardware is also 7% smaller than the previous device, with a processor being 60% faster, the company said.

“In the past ten years we have taken everything we have learned and built up a platform to appear to our members at their climax longer and to live at their peak,” said the founder and CEO of Whoop, Ahmed, in a press release.

The start marks the first major hardware update since 2021 when the WHOOP 4.0 company released. According to a press release, the new devices will help users understand how their daily decisions affect their performance and health results over time.

Costs and levels

There are three annual membership levels: Whoop One, which costs 199 US dollars and includes the WHOOP 5.0; Whoop Peak, which costs 239 US dollars and contains the WHOOP 5.0; And Whoop Life, which costs 359 US dollars and contains the Whoop MG. Accessories such as additional bands are available.

Whoop 5.0 and Whoop -MG memberships and accessories can buy online from Thursday.

Whoop One members can use their Howop 5.0 to measure sleep, stress and recovery as well as the cardiovascular and muscular effects of various workouts. Users can also track their menstrual cycles and pregnancies.

Whoop Peak builds on these core metrics. The members have access to a health monitor function that offers a quick view of vitals such as breathing rate, heart rate, blood oxygen and skin temperature. Whoop Peak also supports a real-time stress monitor in which users can recognize their stress level and complete guided breathing meetings if they want to increase relaxation or vigilance.

The company also presented a feature called HealthSpan that uses nine metrics to calculate age and aging the adult user. A user's whoop age compares his physiological age with its actual age, and evaluating aging how quickly or slowly someone age due to their behavior.

The HealthSpan function is updated every week, and users receive tips on how to improve your who and age in your app. Whoop has developed this function in cooperation with the Buck Institute for Research on Alterning, the company said.

The most comprehensive membership is Whoop Life, with which users give access to additional medical health features with Whoop MG.

The members of Whoop Life can record an electrocardiogram or an EKG to recognize irregular cardiac arrhythms such as AFIB, high heart rate or low heart rate. As soon as the reading is complete, you can share a PDF with your doctor.

The EKG function was deleted by the US Food and Drug Administration. It is not intended for users under the age of 22 or for users with a pacemaker or other implanted devices. It will be available in the United States, the United Arab Emirates and in Qatar at the start. Additional countries will take place shortly.

Whoop Life members can also get daily insights into their blood pressure, including valued systolic and diastolic areas. Users have to log a traditional cuff reading reading in order to act as a baseline in order to unlock this function, and it is not intended for treatment, diagnosis or medical use.

Whoop said that knowledge of blood pressure has been in development for several years and that the characteristic is currently in Beta.

I have a little insight into the Whoop MG and have carried it in the past few days. I can't talk about how it is to carry the device over a longer period of time, but my original experience was largely positive.

From the hardware point of view, the WHOOP MG looks leaner than the Whoop 4.0, which I tested in April. The actual sensor is about one inch wide and the tape is a little thinner. I have found that both the WHOOP MG and the WHOOP 4.0 are a bit difficult to withdraw – you really have to pull the bar.

The WHOOP -MG setup is very simple and I ran in the app in a few minutes. With all the new functions, there is a lot of additional data to understand, so that the app seemed to be quite busy at first. I felt like I had a better grip after a few hours and I had no pressure to constantly monitor it.

I found HealthSpan particularly interesting of the new characteristics. As a relatively healthy 24-year-old, I noticed that I still felt relieved to be “younger” than at my age. I would be curious to see how this function would change from week to week on my behaviors.

I also liked the detailed sleeping tracking of WHOOP MG and the real-time stress monitor because I personally tried to be more attentive. I have learned that my stress levels increase, for example, in public transport and adapt accordingly.

After about a dozen trying, I was not able to record a successful EKG reading. I always got mistakes, even after I changed the wrists and the positioning of my arms. That was disappointing because I am interested in seeing my results. The knowledge of blood pressure is neat and provided that other users can record ECG measurements successfully, it is easy to recognize the potential benefit. That means I don't think I still need these characteristics in my daily life, so the Whoop Life membership would probably not be the right choice for me.

I am not entirely sold in the aesthetics of the Whoop MG. I have small hands and wrists, so I always have the feeling that intelligent devices usually look chunky in me.

I definitely had the feeling that the Whoop 4.0 was too big for me, but the Whoop MG doesn't bother me that much. This is just my personal taste, and there are many who -op accessories that you can buy to track the device for different occasions.

After just a few days I can learn a lot from the Whoop -MG, but I have the feeling that I would personally reach for the Whoop 5.0. The selection of member options Enter for the fact that users do not have to break the bank. Therefore I would feel comfortable if I can recommend my friends and my family who op.0 and Whoop MG. And for existing Whoop customers who think about an upgrade, the longer battery life is considering alone.
