Trump's debate cancellation will backfire as Kamala Harris will get free ABC particular
Vice President Kamala Harris will get a free primetime special on ABC if Donald Trump skips the debate.
CNN reported:
Vice President Kamala Harris plans to attend the previously agreed debate on September 10 on ABC – even if Donald Trump does not appear, a source familiar with the matter told CNN.
The source said it was understood that ABC News would give airtime to any candidate who ran – even if it ended up being just Harris. ABC News did not respond to CNN's request for comment.
The debate does not require both candidates to appear, otherwise the time slot will be voided. If one candidate shows up and the other does not, the network will likely turn the debate into a prime-time interview or town hall meeting.
If the Harris campaign is right, Donald Trump's absence from the stage will give Kamala Harris a special national television broadcast that will be broadcast free of charge and over the air across the country.
Trump's lead in the polls has evaporated. He can't afford to play these games and pretend he has an advantage or is winning.
Donald Trump has made poor strategic decisions throughout his 2024 campaign, but one of his worst decisions may be giving his opponent a prime-time special because he is afraid of a debate.
Trump has no influence whatsoever. He will not have the debate rules completely changed so that he can then hold them in front of an audience on Fox News.
The ex-president's debate scam backfires and could result in Vice President Harris being given a single national platform to address voters.
