Trump marketing campaign calls for equal talking time after Biden's speech within the Oval Workplace

Chris LaCivitia of the Trump campaign threatened the television networks with legal action if they did not give Trump the same airtime since President Biden's speech in the Oval Office.

LaCivitia wrote: “Every single network that televised this campaign speech will receive follow-up letters from our lawyers requesting equal airtime. @NBCNews @CNN @ABC @CBSNews @FoxNews”

The Trump campaign's demand is not without its problems. Thanks to Ronald Reagan, the Fairness Doctrine no longer exists, so networks are not required to provide equal airtime.

The main problem is that the President of the United States is no longer a presidential candidate, and therefore his speech had nothing to do with the 2024 campaign. Biden spent much of his speech explaining his decision not to run, highlighting his accomplishments, and discussing what he will do with his remaining time in office.

Donald Trump is not the president and therefore has no right to equal negotiating room in this situation.

What makes the Trump team so angry is the fact that Biden managed to hijack the news cycle on the day that Trump's buddy Netanyahu spoke to Congress.

Donald Trump's tenure as the clear frontrunner in the presidential election campaign lasted about three weeks. A possible shooting or his party convention did not give Trump a boost. Vice President Harris has wiped out Trump's entire lead.

If a campaign only campaigns by complaining and demanding airtime, then it is on the losing side.

Donald Trump will not get the same amount of speaking time, but the demand is an indication of how much this election has changed in just a few days.
