President Donald Trump said on Saturday that he was planning to speak separately with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday and the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in order to achieve an armistice.
“I will speak by phone with President Vladimir Putin from Russia on Monday at 10:00 a.m. to stop the” bloodbath “, which on average kills more than 5000 Russian and Ukrainian soldiers a week,” said Trump in a Saturday post in truth.
“I will then speak to President Zelenskyy from Ukraine and then with President Zelenskyy, various members of NATO,” he continued. “Hopefully it will be a productive day, a ceasefire will take place, and this very violent war, a war that should never have happened will end. God bless us all !!!”
Trump said reporters on Friday that he had talks with Putin after the Russian President had skipped peace talks between Russia and Ukraine in Turkey. “I think it's time for us to just do it,” said Trump.
“He and I will meet and I think we will solve it or not,” said Trump in comments to reporters after going to the USA after his four -day trip to the Middle East. “At least we will know. And if we don't solve it, it will be very interesting.”
Trump is frustrated by the efforts of his government to facilitate a deal between Russia and Ukraine, and reported consultants in private discussions that the mediation of a peace agreement was more difficult than expected, as CNN previously reported, citing sources. During his campaign, the US President repeatedly said that he could end the war between Russia and Ukraine in 24 hours after taking office.
Trump has recently blamed the guilt on both sides, where he previously made the fault for “inflammatory statements” for Zelenskyy of Ukraine who “make it so difficult to pay this war”. He also accused the Ukrainian leader, added to war complications by “praise” that Kyiv would not legally recognize that the Crimea would be graded to Russia. Trump recently punished Putin at the end of April for Russia against Ukraine against Ukraine, which were “not necessary and very bad timing”.
