Epic things come to Orlando.

In a little more than a month, Universal will officially open the doors of its latest theme park, the first major theme park in the Florida region for 25 years and change in the tourism industry in Orlando.

The epic universe is the largest of all universal real estate in 750 hectares and offers five themed worlds: the magic world of Harry Potter – the Ministry of Magic, Super Nintendo World, how to train their dragon – the Isle of Berk, the heavenly park and the dark universe.

It will join the Universal Studios and Walt Disney World in the Mecca Orlando theme park.

Tourism has long been the leading sector in Central Florida and draws both domestic and international visitors. More than 74 million people traveled to Orlando in 2023 and contributed around 50% of total sales tax in Orange County.

Not only is it expected DisneyBut there will also be billions of dollars for the local economy.

“This is the first big, completely new theme park in the USA for 25 years. This is an imperative reason for the visit of Orlando,” said Casandra Matej, CEO of Visit Orlando, a Tourism Trade Association. “So if you see a large milestone project like the Epic Universe, you know that it will definitely have a domino effect of economic advantages for our community.”

Epic Universe, which was first announced in 2019 Comcast Comcast CEO Brian Roberts has ever done a total of Florida in his theme parking business and in Florida. It is rumored that this number is around 7 billion US dollars.

This massive endeavor, which is officially opened on May 22, is a way for Universal to present and monetize its diverse franchise library and to strengthen its entertainment business. It currently runs islands of the adventure and universal studios and Vulcano Bay, a water park, about a mile down the street.

According to a report by Sean Snaith, the director of the Institute for Economic forecasts by Sean Snaith, director of the media company, Universal Orlando, between 2019 and 2023, has given an economic effect of $ 44 billion.

The latest theme park from Universal is already making waves. SNAITH found that the direct investment from Universal to the Epic Universe nationwide led to 11 billion US dollars for economic effects in the form of construction and operating expenses as well as the hiring of new employees.

According to Snaith's study, the Universal Orlando generated 94,000 jobs across the country in 2023, including engineers, software specialists, artists, architects and set designers. Around 65,000 jobs were only created for the construction of the epic universe, according to the company.

Snaith's research also showed that the Epic Universe will probably generate around 2 billion US dollars for the state of Florida in its first year of operation. According to Snaith's research, more than 17,500 new jobs will create new jobs in its first year of the opening in the first year.

“The Florida job market is currently quite strong,” said Snaith. “So it is a kind of rich here. We project that Florida will continue to surpass the economy through economic growth and employment growth.”

As soon as the park is open, visitors spend the night in local hotels, rent cars, go shopping and visit restaurants and increase the income for other local companies.

“You can see that the zone around the epic universe has actually increased since this building,” said Jakob Wahl, CEO of the International Association for Amusement Parks and Attractions. “You see a new infrastructure. You can see new apartments. You can see new hotels. You can see new restaurants. It is a boost for the entire area.”

Theme parking experts announced CNBC that other destinations in the area, including Disney, will probably see a bump from the opening of the epic universe.

“When Disneyland Paris opened in 1992, there were concerns from the theme parks around Paris,” said Wahl. “But the opposite actually happened. You have increased your audience. And that is probably also in Orlando because it strengthens the goal.”

New developments, whether parks, land or trips, also create the competition between companies in order to create convincing and more innovative attractions that attract guests.

“It is an ascending flood that lifts all boats,” said Matej.

As a rule, both Universal and Disney receive a patronage from those who visit Orlando, especially from guests who travel from the state or other countries. The additional park means that many extend their vacation to experience more time to experience the epic universe alongside the four themed parks of Disney and the other amusements of Universal.

“What we know is every day that someone is expanding their stay, these are the economic effects of millions of dollars on our community,” said Matej.
