DETROIT – Stellar has redesigned its full-size Ram heavy-duty trucks — and it expects these updates to help reverse three consecutive sales declines for the brand.

The new Ram 2500 and 3500 cab-chassis pickups and chassis trucks feature updated interior and exterior styling, as well as a new 6.7-liter Cummins turbodiesel engine that produces 430 horsepower and a best-in-class 1,075 foot-pounds of torque, according to the automaker.

The heavy-duty trucks are expected to arrive in U.S. dealers in the first quarter of this year and will sell starting at $47,560 for about $2,300 more than current models.

They follow the delayed launch of their redesigned smaller sister pickup, the Ram 1500, which debuted last year.

Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis, who returned to the automaker in December after stepping down in May, said the Ram 1500's launch is improving.

“It’s been very delayed, let’s be honest. We should have been fully prepared for it.” [1500] truck this summer. We should have had it [the heavy-duty trucks] “It’s getting better every day,” Kuniskis said during a media event.

Pickup trucks are important products for American brands like Ram, which reported a 19% year-over-year sales decline in 2024. This also included a 16% decline in sales of their Ram pickup trucks. This is compared to competitors such as: ford And GMis Chevrolet, which reported flat sales for its pickup trucks in 2024.

“We got our asses kicked,” Kuniskis said, pointing out that the launch of the 1500 model was largely responsible for the brand’s decline in sales.

The diesel engine is an important option for heavy-duty truck customers, many of whom use the vehicles for hauling, towing and other work-related work. The other engine option is a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 that delivers 405 horsepower and 429 foot-pounds of torque.

For 2025, the Ram Heavy Duty lineup includes the Tradesman, Big Horn/Lone Star, Laramie, Rebel, Power Wagon, Limited Longhorn and Limited models. The trucks are built in Saltillo, Mexico.
