Singapore – French President Emmanuel Macron asked Europe and Asia on Friday to strengthen and avoid the coalition that they are caught in the reinforced crack between the USA and China.
In the annual defense forum Shangri-La-Dialog in Singapore, Macron asked the Prime Minister and Defense Minister of the Indo-Pacific nations to establish a “new coalition” in order to counter the “restrictions and side effects”.
“France is a friend and an ally of the United States and a friend, and we work with China – even if we sometimes do not agree and take part in competitions,” said Macron, adding that the country does so while he adheres to a “demanding approach of our own interests”.
The “separation between the two superpowers” is the main risk of the world, said Macron.
Macron's speech comes in the middle of a regional tour that also led him to Vietnam and Indonesia. The European leader has tried to strengthen France's defense cooperation with other nations, to worry that he becomes collateral damage in the Commerce War in the United States, and in the middle of continued geopolitical disputes with Beijing.
In Jakarta, Macron and his counterpart Prabowo Subianto signed a preliminary defense pact at the beginning of this week, in which Indonesia buys more French weapons, including Rafale Fighter Jets and Scorpen -U boat. France and Vietnam also signed offers for Airbus aircraft, defense and other pacts worth over 10 billion US dollars.
“Asean and Europe are influenced by the unpredictability of the new tariff approach and the end of a rule -based trade order,” said Macron, warning that this will affect the economy of the nations and its ability to finance defense efforts.
Macron's new commitment came with the region when the bilateral tensions between China and the United States get up again despite the latest tariff.
The Trump government has threatened to “aggressively revoke” visas for Chinese students “and at the same time restrict the sale of chip design software to China. Beijing has also held a firm grip on the exports of rare earths to the USA
Take wipping in China
Asia and Europe have a common interest in preventing the dissolving of the global order and improving the defense against “revisionist” countries that want to control the areas of the edge of Europe and the Archipelago in the South Chinese Sea, said Macron and took subtle wiping in the actions of Beijing in the controversial waters.

The defense minister last year in the Shangri-la dialog warned that all the forces that Taiwan are supposed to separate from China were exposed to “self-destruction”, and emphasized it as the “core of our core interest”.
