JPmorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon said on Monday that the US government was inefficient and needs work because the Trump administration ends thousands of federal employees and is working on reducing agencies, including the consumer financial protection Bureau.
Dimon asked Leslie Picker from CNBC whether he supported the efforts of Elon Musk's consulting committee, the Department of Government Efficiency. He refused to give an “binary” answer, but made comments that supported the overall efforts.
“The government is inefficient, not very competent and needs a lot of work,” Dimon told Picker. “It is not just waste and fraud, they are results.”
The efforts of the Trump administration to meet the expenditure and examine the federal authorities must be “done”, added Dimon.
“Why do we spend the money for these things? We get what we earn? What should we change?” Said Dimon. “It's not just about the deficit, but about building up the right guidelines and procedures and the government we have earned.”
Dimon said that DOGE transfers with his cost reduction efforts or is upset for activities that are not legal, “the dishes will stop it”.
“I hope it's pretty successful,” he said.
In the far-reaching interview, Dimon also spoke to the advance of his company to have most workers in office five days a week, as well as his views on the Ukraine conflicts, tariffs and US consumers.
