Detroit – The stocks of the car manufacturers closed on Monday after President Donald Trump announced that they help some of the car companies in the middle of his 25% automatic tariffs.
The car manufacturers need “a little time” to move their production to the USA, Trump said during a meeting on Monday with Salvadoranian President Nayib Bukele in the Oval Office.
“I am looking for something that helps some of the automotive companies in which they change that were made in Canada, Mexico and other places, and they need a little time because they will do them here,” said Trump, without explaining the potential plans. “But you need a little time, so I talk about things like that.”

Car manufacturers reacted to the tariffs in different ways. Manufacturers who are largely domestic, such as Ford and Stellantis, have announced temporary offers for the pricing of the employees, while others, such as the British car manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover, have hired US programs. Hyundai Motor has also announced not to increase prices for at least two months in order to facilitate consumer problems.
GM has strategically increased the US production, including increasing production in a pickup truck work in Indiana and the cancellation of the previously announced downtime in a facility in Tennessee next month.
“The company updates and revises the production plans as part of its standard process for evaluating and managing vehicle stocks as required,” said Leadership in a message to the employees respected by CNBC. “The previously announced downtime for the week of May 12th will be lifted, which means that complete production in the vehicle assembly will run as usual.”
On Monday, a GM spokesman confirmed the change in the plans for the Tennessee plant, which produces several Cadillac crossovers.
