Elon Musk recently went to Joe Rogan's podcast and spoke about social security:
Well, I mean, the only great government program of the government when they ask me. Security is the largest Ponzi program ever. exceeds, um, the tax revenues wide.
If you ever looked at the debts, the debt clock, it's okay. There are, there are today's debts, but then there are our future obligations. So if you look at the future social security obligations, the actual public debt like twice what people consider to be the future obligations.
Um. Basically, people live much longer than expected. Um, and, um, fewer babies are born, so they have more people who are retired and get that who have long lives and pension. So the future obligation. How bad the financial situation for the federal government, however, will be much worse in the future.
Social security is not a Ponzi program because every American employee has paid into the system since the program was founded. There is no one who does not pay off in the system and receives their advantages when they reach the retirement age.
Musk demonstrated his fundamental ignorance of how the most basic of the government programs works.
