It always comes back to Russia.
Signal gate is a scandal that has not disappeared. The White House did everything to sweep it under the carpet, but the scandal and the national security problems continue to dive.
At first glance, Michael Waltz, Trump's national security advisor, seems to take the fall because he organized the notorious Signal Chat in which a journalist from the Atlantic was accidentally added, but within The New York Times story was an interesting nugget:
Mr. Waltz, a traditional Republican falcon, who has never made public development towards Mr. Trump's foreign policy views, did the Foreign Minister Marco Rubio, argued internally because of sharp sanctions against Russia if he does not agree to an armistice with Ukraine. Mr. Waltz only made this proposal on Monday at a meeting with the president and high -ranking members of his national security team.
So far, Mr. Trump hesitated to take something other than symbolic measures against Russia, although he sometimes threatened to impose sanctions and tariff on social media
Waltz seems wrongly believed when Trump first said America, he said that America would come first.
It seems certain that Russia's interests had stood in front of those of the United States during the second Trump government.
Just to be clear, Pete Hegseth, who not only introduced the war plans to the Atlantic journalist, but also to his wife and brother, still has a job. Pete Hegseth remains the Minister of Defense, but the guy who pushed the government to sanction Russia if they did not agree to a ceasefire in Ukraine.
Waltz definitely deserves to be fired via signal gates, but also Hegseth and everyone else who are involved in the chat and the course of war plans.
It doesn't matter who Trump Waltz replaces because this administration does not have a coherent or consistent national security policy, but if you choose Trump, Russia probably does not want to sanction.
