The Trump administration could soon introduce comprehensive changes to the US State Department, one of CNBC, which of CNBC, which specifies a “disciplined restructuring” of the nation's diplomatic service.
The 16-page draft decision, which is not out of date, but seems to be prepared for the signature of President Donald Trump, would dramatically improve the department if it is put into force. The attitude of American messages throughout South Africa and the removal of offices that work on topics such as democracy and human rights as well as international organizations such as the United Nations.
The order also describes an overhaul in the process for selecting and training US diplomats.
According to the arrangement, the changes should “rationalize the delivery of missions, project American strength abroad, waste, fraud, abuse and orientation of the department with an American first strategic doctrine that reflects the priorities of the executive department”.
The design of the executive regulation suggests the removal of all “not essential messages and consulates in Africa south of the Sahara” and the consolidation of the regional offices around the world.
The current regional offices according to the arrangement would be consolidated under four “regional corps”:
- Eurasia, including Europe, Russia and Central Asia;
- Middle East, including Arab nations, Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistan;
- Latin America, including Central America, South America and the Caribbean; And
- Indo-Pacific, including East and Southeast Asia, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan and the Maldives.
America's diplomatic presence in Canada would be cut drastically under the order. In the future, the Operation of the Foreign Ministry in Canada “would fall under a significantly reduced team that was delegated as the office of North American affairs within the State Secretary Marco Rubio.
The White House did not react immediately to the request from CNBC for a comment on the design of the order.
The New York Times reported for the first time about the document. Rubio wrote in response to the article about X: “These are fake messages.”
The draft of the arrangement also requires the termination of offices and positions within the department, which focus on climate, women's issues, democracy, human rights, migration and criminal justice.
In addition to consolidating messages and consulates, the order would make fundamental changes to the attitude procedure in the department.
The long -standing test for foreign service officials would discard in favor of an assessment, some of which is based on whether candidates show “an focus on the President's foreign policy vision”.
The design of the arrangement states that the “complete structural restructuring and transition” should be completed by October 1st.
It also means that current foreign services or the public service staff who do not want to participate in the new regional organizational structure or “want to serve the interests of the administration can voluntarily decide by the department by a one-time buyout and transition program.
