The United States confirmed its commitment to the support of Taiwan on Wednesday when China extended its large -scale military exercises off the coast of the democratically ruled island on a second day.
“In view of the intimidation tactics and the destabilizing behavior of China, the permanent commitment of the United States for our allies and our partners, including Taiwan, is away in a statement on Tuesday evening.
China's army, naval and rocket disputes started a joint exercise on Tuesday, with the military described it as a “strict warning” against forces who wanted to undermine peace in Taiwan Straße.
“China's aggressive military activities and rhetoric towards Taiwan only serve to worsen the tensions and put the security of the region and prosperity in danger,” said the Foreign Ministry, adding that the United States “against one -sided changes in status quo, including violence or compulsion.”
The Chinese military said that attacks on maritime and soil goals and blockade exercises had practiced to test the shared business skills of its troops.
On Wednesday, according to Plas Senior Colonel Shi Yi, it carried out precision attacks for simulated goals such as ports and energy devices in the latest training code called “Strait Thunder-2025 A”.
The Ministry of Defense in Taipei said that 76 aircraft, 15 naval ships and 4 official ships were found that worked around the island from 6 a.m., which marked the largest selection of PLA aircraft entrances since the “Joint Sword -202B” war exercises last October, when Taiwan used a recording number of military aircraft.
The armed forces in Taiwan used aircraft, naval ships and coastal missile systems in response.
Beijing tries to “intimidate the Taiwanese by reminding it of China's extensive military power,” said David Silbey, professor at Cornell University, who specializes in military history and politics, and added that the exercises will help Beijing are preparing for every actual conflict.
The latest maneuvers are viewed by some as a sign of Beijing's anger with President Lai. In a speech last month, Lai described the mainland as “foreign enemy forces” and proposed legal and economic measures to counter beching “infiltration” efforts on the island.
The delayed time of the exercises – more than two weeks after the speech – is probably due to a flagship summit in Beijing in the past two weeks, in which Chinese top officials were hit with the executives of multinational companies, analysts of the Eurasien Group shared in a note.
“An exercise in the Taiwan road, while foreign CEOs are in the city, would have created a terrifying effect against Beijings Push to attract foreign investments,” said the consulting company.
“The willingness of Beijing to moderate the tensions of the Überstrasse,” said the analysts and warned that the possibilities for a “cross-strait crisis” increase this year.
China sees Taiwan as his own territory – an assertion that Taiwan rejected – and has sworn to recapture the island by force.
Beijing held several rounds of military exercises by Taiwan and sent fighter planes to enter his airspace almost a year ago.
