China's Ministry of Commerce had talks with Walmart: State Media says
The Chinese Ministry of Commerce has had talks with Walmart, after the US individual trade giant reports on the price reductions of Chinese suppliers to compensate for the tariff costs, a state-supported media company said on Wednesday.
The announcement came after Bloomberg reported last Thursday that Walmart asked some Chinese suppliers, including the manufacturer of kitchen and clothing, to lower the prices for every round of US tariffs by up to 10%.
“If this applies, it is inappropriate for Walmart that Chinese suppliers wear all tariffs, which will disturb fair competition and the foreign trade order,” says the report after a CNBC translation of the Chinese.
Walmart's reported step “can create the risk of a disorder of the supply chain and damage the interests of Chinese and American companies and American consumers,” warns, warning of further measures if the company does not correct its course.
The US President Donald Trump of 10% for Chinese goods came into force on March 4 after a tariff of 10% on February 4.
Most Chinese suppliers are already composed of “razor-guns” profit margins when the US company received large discounts, according to Bloomberg report, to maintain their competitive advantage.
Chinese and American companies should work together to react to us, “one -sided introduction of tariffs,” said the Chinese state media.
