Democrats drive vote on launch of Matt Gaetz ethics report

Last updated on November 22, 2024 at 4:26 p.m

The House Ethics Committee did not approve the release of Matt Gaetz's ethics report, so House Democrats are preparing to force a vote on its release.

CNN's Melanie Zandona reported:

Rep. Casten will be presented with a privileged resolution forcing a vote to demand that the House Ethics Committee release its report on Matt Gaetz, reports say.

This could lead to a high-risk vote in the House of Representatives if the body does not make the decision public.

There is a precedent here.

John Lewis proposed a privilege order requiring the Committee on Standards and Official Conduct to release its report on Speaker Newt Gingrich in 1996.

House Ethics Committee Chairman Michael Guest says there was NO committee approval for the Gaetz report to be released.

If the Ethics Commission doesn't clear, the Democrats won't shrug their shoulders and go on with their day. Information about what the committee found is becoming public at an increasingly slow pace. This includes Gaetz having sex with a 17-year-old girl and Gaetz trying to reward people for their silence.

If Trump

If he sticks with Gaetz as his candidate for attorney general, he should be prepared for a long and ugly trial.

Republicans and Democrats in the Senate want access to the Ethics Committee report and will get information about Trump's nominee one way or another, and Democrats are ready to speak out and force House Republicans to agree to protect Gaetz voices.
