238 former Bush, McCain and Romney staff assist Kamala Harris
238 people who worked for John McCain, George W. Bush and Mitt Romney supported Kamala Harris.
The letter states:
Four years ago, former members of the party of President George W. Bush, the late Senator John McCain and then-Governor Mitt Romney met to warn their Republican colleagues that the re-election of President Trump
would be a disaster for our nation. In those statements, we spoke the plain truth, each predicting that another four years of a Trump presidency would do irreparable damage to our beloved democracy.
We made these announcements months before lies about a stolen election became commonplace, and six months before Trump incited an insurrection and cheered on a mob of sore losers and sycophants as they attempted to violently suppress the will of the American public.
We reconvene today with new George HW Bush alumni to reaffirm our 2020 statements and declare together for the first time that we will vote for Vice President Kamala Harris. and Governor Tim Walz this November.
Of course, there are many honest, ideological differences between us and Vice President Harris and Governor Walz. That is to be expected. But the alternative is simply untenable.
Domestically, another four years of Donald Trump's chaotic leadership, this time focused on advancing the dangerous goals of Project 2025, will harm everyday people and weaken our sacred institutions.
Abroad, democratic movements are being irreparably endangered as Trump and his aide JD Vance kowtow to dictators like Vladimir Putin and turn their backs on our allies.
We cannot allow this to happen.
Thanks to polls and voter data, we now know that it was moderate Republicans and conservative independents in the key swing states who ultimately gave Joe Biden the presidency. honest, hardworking Americans in Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Arizona, and beyond who put country above party. We wholeheartedly call on these friends, colleagues, neighbors, and family to once again take a bold stand and vote for politicians who seek consensus, not chaos; who champion unity, not division; who make our country and our children proud.
These leaders are Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz.
There is more at stake in this election than party politics. Republicans and conservatives who care about democracy and love their country are stepping forward because the threat posed by Trump is more important than any political disagreement.
Trump is trying to create the false impression that he is the leader of a mass movement. In fact, he is leading a death cult of democracy.
The vast majority are opponents of Donald Trump and his views. If this majority remains, Donald Trump and MAGA will not only lose an election, but will also be banned from American politics.
