Trump proclaims the US China commerce talks in London subsequent week
Finance Minister Scott Bessent and two other Trump administration officers will meet with her Chinese colleagues in London on Monday, said President Donald Trump.
Bessent, who is managed by the administration's efforts to make a contract with Beijing, is accompanied by Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and the US sales representative Jamieson Greer, said Trump.
“The meeting should go very well,” the president wrote about the social of truth on Friday afternoon. “Thanks for your attention to this matter!”
CNBC contacted the Chinese embassy in Washington to get more information about Trump's announcement. A spokesman for the message did not immediately answer a request for comment.
Trump had first announced that further trading talks were planned after having held a long call with the Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday.
The announcement of the planning is that the United States and China have affected numerous topics in the middle of a weakening trade war, which threatens both economic superpowers.
The countries whose overall trading with goods lasted last year has increased over 582 billion US dollars, most of the tariffs for the other of the other after bilateral trade talks in Geneva, Switzerland last month.
Since then, China has repeatedly accused the United States of undermining this progress.
Beijing protested after the US trade department warned the chip industry about the use of Chinese semiconductors. China also rejected the recent announcement by the Trump government, the visa of some Chinese students who study in the United States
The Trump administration has now accused Beijing of slowly changing a promise proposed in Geneva, exporting additional critical minerals, known as rare earths, to the United States.
After the call on Thursday, Trump wrote with XI: “There should be no more questions that respect the complexity of rare earth products.” He didn't explain what that meant.
