On Thursday, the Ministry of Justice asked the California sheriffs about data on their inmates who are not a US citizen-a single of the crimes they committed, and their publication data in the recent escalation of President Donald Trump's plans.
The Federal Authority said that it informed the Sheriffs in Los Angeles, San Francisco and other California counties that they should “hand over lists of all inmates in their prisons who are not citizens of the United States”.
If the California Sheriffs do not voluntarily create the requested information, the Doj will “pursue all available funds to obtain the data, including the preloads or another mandatory process”.
The letter from Attorney General Pam Bondi to the sheriff of La County, Robert Luna, asked for this data within 30 days.
Bondi's letter also seems to refer to a comparative agreement from 2015 that the Department of La Sheriff has met with the Doj. This agreement, which is not related to immigration, asked the department to grant the US “complete and complete access to prisons” and to grant some related records.
“This administration is obliged to enforce the federal immigration laws. Our highest priority is to eliminate those illegal foreigners who committed crimes after they have illegally joined the United States,” wrote Bondi.
The inquiries show that the Trump administration increases the pressure on the large California cities, where it has already carried out some of the most aggressive and controversial federal immigration.
Bondi and the Interior Minister Doug Burgum received a briefing, a high -ranking DOJ officer to NBC News on Thursday, the famous former prison island in San Francisco Bay.
Trump said he wanted to reopen the facility, which has not been operated as a prison since 1963 and is currently a museum that is operated by the National Park Service.
Gavin Newsom Gavin New California, a democrat that often collapses with Trump, later came to Bondi on Thursday with the continued controversy over the so-called Jeffrey Epstein files.
“Pam Bondi will reopen Alcatraz on the same day as Trump publishes the Epstein files,” wrote the newsoma press office in an X -Post. “So … never.”
The Sanctuary Law 2017 in California prohibits the state and the local police to arrest people for immigration reasons and to restrict their participation in activities to enforce the federal immigration.
The law also limits if the Sheriff departments can provide us with immigration and customs officials with a imprisoned release date of a detained non-agent.
The comprehensive deportation operations of the federal immigration authorities in California have stimulated a counter reaction in the form of heated protests and complaints.
