Slack GPT AI chatbot can take notes, summarize messages, and extra

Buzzy chatbot technology comes to Slack in a new way: Slack GPT, an in-app tool that allows users to trim and customize message audio, group missed messages into channels, help with writing, notes into calls or “huddles” and more.
For example, you could ask the chatbot to record everything that was said in a Slack group call. Slack GPT can also summarize dozens of messages you missed in a specific chat group while you were out of the office.
Foreclosurewhich owns the workplace messaging app, announced the news on Thursday.
Ali Rayl, Slack’s senior vice president of product, told CNBC she estimates the AI chatbot tools will roll out within the next year, but declined to give further details on the features’ rollout timeline.
“We’ve seen a lot of interest, honestly… We have so much information [that] We have a unique advantage here,” Rayl told CNBC. “All the messages your company sent across all your channels – that’s valuable… How can we use generative AI and make that more valuable to a business?”
Rayl added, “We’re interested in moving into this area, but the market is still pulling us there.”
The news follows Salesforce’s decision in March to release two chatbots, Anthropic’s ChatGPT and Claude, as external apps for use on Slack, but their capacity is limited compared to the native capabilities announced Thursday.
Salesforce also announced no-code features it will offer to professionals starting this summer. These include tools for customer service representatives, such as AI-generated responses to customers and case summaries; Tools for developers and IT staff, such as B. Automating incident management to determine the root cause of a problem; and tools for marketers, such as B. automatically generated campaign texts and images.
Customer chats and information are not stored or used as training data for the AI tools, Rayl said.
“[We don’t want to] just throw something away and say, ‘yeah, the AI hallucinates sometimes, sorry,'” Rayl said. “We make a really thoughtful product design.”
