Meet the Workforce USA athletes aiming for gold

Jessica Parratto and Delaney Schnell

After Jessica Parratto won a silver medal in Tokyo in the women's synchronized diving on the 10-meter platform with partner Delaney Quick— the first medal for the U.S. team in the event — the 5-foot-2 athlete retired to, as she told NBC Sports, “finally be a normal person.”

She did that for about a year until Schnell convinced her to get back in the pool. But to be clear, Parratto said of her return before qualifying for Paris: “I didn't do it because she wanted me to. I really did it because I wanted to.”

But she doesn't mind the camaraderie either. When Schnell collided their feet in May at the Montreal Diving World Cup, Parratto's first international event since retirement, “it was a really nice moment for us to get closer,” she said, “and we just thought, OK, we did it.”
