Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) announced that he will accelerate his “Make COVID Great Again” campaign by preventing companies from requesting vaccination documents.
The Miami Herald reported:
“People have certain freedoms and individual freedoms to make their own decisions,” DeSantis said during a press conference on Monday when he announced that he would soon be issuing a regulation on vaccination records.
He added, “I also wonder it’s like this, okay, you’re going to do that and then what? Are you giving all of this information to a large company? Do you want the fox to guard the chicken coop? I mean give me a break. “
DeSantis claimed that individuals have the right not to be vaccinated, but individuals who own businesses do not have the right to request vaccination documents to ensure the safety of their employees and their other customers.
Corporations have the right to refuse to serve customers for reasons that do not violate applicable law, but the supposedly freedom and business friendly DeSantis is robbing people of its state of the freedom not to receive COVID. DeSantis is trampling on the right to “life, freedom and the pursuit of happiness” because he wants to run for president in 2024, and keeping COVID great in Florida is his way of scoring with Trump’s base.
