Prince Andrew of the United Kingdom was served with a lawsuit from an American accusing him of having sex with her when she was a minor while she was being molested by his friend Jeffrey Epstein, a new court record revealed on Friday.
Andrew, the Duke of York, was served on Virginia Giuffre’s civil lawsuit filed in England on August 27, according to that lawsuit in Manhattan Federal Court.
The document, an affidavit from a trial server hired by Giuffre’s legal team, states that the lawsuit was left with a police officer on duty outside the gates of the Royal Lodge in Windsor, an estate owned by Andrew.
The affidavit said that when the trial server tried to deliver the lawsuit to Andrew the day before, a police officer told him that “the security forces there were instructed not to let anyone into the grounds” in order to serve the prince with the lawsuit or to accept service on his behalf.
On August 27, the process server wrote that it had been told that the complaint could be left with a police officer at the Royal Lodge “and that the matter would then be referred to the legal team.”
A spokesman for Andrew declined to comment.

At the time, the mysterious money manager was charged in federal court with trafficking dozens of underage girls into sexually abusing them. Epstein pleaded guilty in Florida in 2008 to seeking sexual services from an underage girl.
Giuffre sued Andrew last month, claiming he sexually abused her when she was 17 years old.
“I blame Prince Andrew for what he did to me,” she said.
“The powerful and the rich are not exempt from being held responsible for their actions. I hope that other victims see that it is possible not to live in silence and fear, but to reclaim your life by speaking up and demand justice. “

Maxwell is due to go on trial in Manhattan federal court in November for recruiting underage girls allegedly abused by Epstein.
She pleaded not guilty to the incident and is being held in a Brooklyn prison without bail.
