Jamie Raskin will lead the cost in opposition to Trump because the Home's new high justice Democrat
The current ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, Jerry Nadler (D-NY), has dropped out of the race to keep his post, leaving Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) as the top Democrat on the Judiciary Committee.
Here is Rep. Nadler's letter to his colleagues:

Rep. Raskin wrote: “Jerry Nadler is an exceptional lawyer, patriot and public servant. His tenacious defense of civil rights and civil liberties is a great inspiration to our people. I am humbled and honored to have his support in the struggles ahead.”
The ranking Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee is expected to be at the forefront of the defense against Trump
. Raskin will have nothing to do with the confirmation process for Trump's nominees, as the advice and consent role is limited to the Senate, but he will be the lead investigator for Trump's Justice Department and all agencies under DOJ purview.
Raskin was the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, where he led opposition to committee Chairman James Comer's investigation of President Biden. Raskin had embarrassed Comer and made the Kentucky Republican look incompetent.
This is a major promotion for Rep. Raskin, all representing the leadership of the resistance to Trump's taper, as Justice Democrats will move from the leadership of the nearly 80-year-old Nadler to Raskin, who is in his 60s.
Raskin is also a constitutional expert and will be perfectly positioned to lead the House Democrats' push against Trump.
With Jamie Raskin to a more prominent position is an encouraging step for Democrats organizing against the new administration.
