Brandy forged in ABC drama pilot ‘Queens’ about 90’s hip hop group alongside Eve & Naturi Naughton
#Roommates, Brandy is stepping back into her actor’s bag thanks to a previously announced project with Eve and Naturi Naughton on camera. Brandy was officially cast on ABC hip hop drama pilot ‘Queens’ via a fictional’ 90s hip hop group.
@Deadline reports that Brandy is using her acting skills again – and this time she’ll be doing it as part of a fictional ’90s rap group. ABC’s highly anticipated drama pilot ‘Queens’ has just added former ‘Moesha’ star Brandy to Eve and Naturi Naughton as one of the four members of the ‘Nasty B ** ches’.
Brandy will play the character Naomi known as “Xplicit Lyrics” while she was in the group. She is described as the musical center of the ‘Nasty B ** ches’ who was certain she would achieve mainstream success after the group split up, but that didn’t happen. Things start to improve for her, however, when the group comes back together and Naomi is reunited with her first love – but she also has to deal with her rival group member who stole him from her back back then. Elsewhere, she also has an estranged daughter who she desperately wants to be there for, even though she doesn’t know exactly where to start.
As we’ve previously reported, ‘Queens’, written by Zahir McGhee, is about four estranged former group members in their forties who reunite to regain their musical fame as ‘Nasty B ** ches’ – their 90s Years group made them legends in the hip hop world.
Naturi Naughton will play Jill, also known as “Da Thrill”, a founding member of the “Nasty B ** ches”. She used to be known for her legendary rhymes and nasty drug habits. These days, Jill lives a quiet life as a devout Catholic with her husband. In the meantime, Eve will play another member of the group named Brianna. However, the specific details about her character have not yet been released.
