Akademiks makes use of social media to speak about DaBaby being repeatedly banned from music festivals – “All of them appear to be hypocrites”
Roommates, even though the incident occurred a week ago, continues to have major ramifications for DaBaby’s controversial comments during his set at the Rolling Loud Festival – and now Akademiks has offered his take on the situation. On Twitter, Akademiks published a long observation of the cancellation of DaBaby and called the festivals on as “hypocrites”.
Akademiks posted the following message about DaBaby in a series of tweets:
“It’s just weird how festivals make these elaborate statements about how much they care about humanity and therefore can’t have a baby on their show for what he said. But 90% of the artists who book them .. Music is about drugs and murder. . . it’s perfectly fine for her.
These companies have to decide whether to prioritize art or morals. Because they all act like hypocrites trying to get on a high horse and cancel artists … Hip Hop is a genre full of imperfect individuals who tell stories. Why even if you want saints. “
As we previously reported, DaBaby has now been banned from seven music festivals and many are wondering if he will be welcomed to the MTV VMAs in Brooklyn, New York next month.
He also apologized regarding his comments posted on his Instagram account:
“Social media moves so fast that people want to destroy you before you even have a chance to grow, educate yourself, and learn from your mistakes. As a man who had to go his own way out of very difficult circumstances, it was a challenge, people I know working against me publicly – knowing that I needed education and guidance on these issues – was a challenge.
I appreciate the many people who came to me with kindness, who reached out to me privately for wisdom, education and resources. I needed that and it was received. I want to apologize to the LGBTQ + community for the hurtful and offensive comments I made. Again, I apologize for my misinformed comments about HIV / AIDS, and I know that education is important. Greetings to all. God bless.”
It appears DaBaby is getting on with his remaining shows, including one he just had with 50 Cent.
