The 2021 Primetime Emmy Awards were held by CBS and Paramount + on Sunday night for their 73rd annual event. As previously reported, the event took place live in Los Angeles in a closed room. According to CBS News, invitations were limited to nominees and selected guests and everyone was required to provide proof of vaccination against Covid-19.

Seth Rogan challenges Emmys
Seth Rogan rode viral waves on Twitter and Instagram after making a brief appearance on the stage of this show. Seth took the stage in an orange-brown-brown suit combination and was excited to be with the Emmys. Then he started waving his finger at the Emmys for their COVID-19 practices, and the moment quickly started on social media.
“Let me start by saying that there are far too many of us in this small room,” Seth said on stage. “What do we do?”
“RuPaul’s Drag Race” wins
RuPaul’s Drag Race won the Outstanding Competition Program Award at the Emmys 2021! This honor actually marks the 11th Emmy win for RuPaul Charles, which now makes him the “Most Honored Black Artist in Emmys History” with 11 awards.
“I can destroy you” wins
Michaela Coel’s “I May Destroy You” won an Emmy Award for writing a limited or anthology series or film. According to the New York Times, Michaela is now the first black woman to win an Emmy in this category. In her acceptance speech, she dedicated the award to survivors of sexual abuse.
“Write the story that scares you, that makes you insecure, that makes you uncomfortable,” said Michaela. “You don’t dare. In a world that leads us to search the lives of others in order to better determine how we think about ourselves and, in turn, to feel the need to be constantly visible – because visibility seems like nowadays somehow equates with success – don’t be afraid to disappear. “
“Hamilton” wins
Congratulations to the entire cast and crew of “Hamilton” as the 2021 Special received the Emmy Award for the Variety Special (Pre-Recorded).
Debbie Allen receives Governor’s Award
Talk about preserving your flowers while you can still smell them! Legendary dancer, choreographer, actress, singer, director, producer, writer and humanitarian Debbie Allen was honored with the Television Academy’s 2021 Governor’s Award. After she took the stage, her fellow campaigners gave her a standing ovation.
“I’m trying not to cry and be up to the situation because it took many years to develop,” said Debbie. “It takes a lot of courage to be the only woman in the room most of the time. A lot of courage and creativity and struggle and faith to believe that I could go on and that is what I have. “
