Cruel summer season two will not be a holiday.
On January 11th, Freeform released the first picture of the second season cast –SadieStanley, Lexi undergrowth, Griffin Gluck, KaDee Strickland, Lisa Yamada and Sean Blakemore– posed around a picnic table in front of a misty lake and forest.
The photo, titled “The truth will eventually surface,” gives an ominous clue as to where things are headed in season two, which will be set in a coastal Pacific Northwest town.
“The next chapter of Cruel Summer follows the rise and fall of an intense teenage friendship,” according to the network. “Approaching the story from three different timelines around the year 2000, the season twists and turns as it explores the early friendship between Megan (Stanley), Isabella (Underwood) and Megan’s best friend Luke (Gluck), the love triangle, the blossomed, and the mystery haunted that would affect her whole future life.”
Megan is described by the network as a “computer coder and honor student from a working-class family” who meets Isabella, “a daughter of foreign diplomats,” while spending a year as an exchange student with Megan’s family.
