Tucker Carlson is livid that GOP lawmakers helped make June a nationwide vacation

In June 1865, slaves were released from slavery in the state of Texas. The next year, African Americans began celebrating the anniversary of this occasion by celebrating June 10th.

This week, American lawmakers voted on whether or not to declare the day a national holiday. Many Republicans were behind the move, including House minority leader Kevin McCarthy. But it wasn’t Tucker Carlson. The Fox News host beat up the Republican leadership for supporting the law.

Carlson had a particular problem with John Cornyn from Texas. On Tuesday the senator tweeted: “I’m glad my bill to recognize Juneteenth as a national holiday has just passed the Senate. It has been a state holiday in Texas for more than 40 years. Now more than ever we have to learn from our history and continue to form a more perfect union. “

The Fox host responded to these comments during his Wednesday show, saying, “Not a single member of either party in the Senate was against it. In fact, the Republicans co-sponsored the resolution. “I am pleased that my bill to recognize Juneteenth as a national holiday has just passed the Senate,” wrote John Cornyn, a supposedly Conservative Senator from Texas. Lori Lightfoot is excited about it. Unlike John Cornyn, Lori Lightfoot understands the power of symbols. “

There are few things that make Tucker Carlson more angry than the recognition of racial segregation in the country’s past and present. It is therefore not surprising that the Fox host appealed here.
