Former President Donald Trump is “sad” but not afraid of the possibility of being indicted in New York City for paying hush money to a porn star, one of his attorneys said Tuesday.
“No, he’s not scared,” attorney Alina Habba said after exiting an independent hearing in Manhattan Supreme Court for the New York Attorney General’s Office of $250 million in fraud charges against Trump, NBC News reported.
When asked how Trump’s state of mind has been over the past few days, Habba said, “He’s sad [about] What’s wrong.”
Trump said in a social media post over the weekend that he expects to be arrested on Tuesday on charges in the Manhattan Attorney’s Office criminal investigation.
That seemed unlikely Tuesday afternoon as the grand jury that heard evidence in the case is absent until Wednesday.

The prosecutor’s office has been giving this panel testimonies and evidence for weeks about a $130,000 payment that Trump’s personal attorney at the time, Michael Cohen, gave to porn star Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 presidential election to silence her over an alleged sexual rendezvous with Trump bring to.
The investigation focuses on the Trump Organization classifying the reimbursement to Cohen as a legal expense in business records.
Such misrepresentation could be considered a felony if done to cover up another crime, in this case campaign finance violations, of which Cohen has pleaded guilty.
Trump denies having sex with Daniels and says the investigation is politically motivated.
Habba, who is not representing Trump in the criminal case, on Tuesday repeated her client, the leading contender for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.
“As you know, I’m not on the prosecution’s case, obviously not a criminal defense attorney, but I think I can say what everyone in the country is waking up to, which is that former President Trump and possibly future President Trump were treated utterly unfairly,” he said habba
“This is frankly a politicization of our justice system,” she said. “I hope everyone’s eyes are open. [It] would be a huge mistake to impeach President Trump.”
Daniels tweeted to a Trump fan earlier Tuesday, “And I’m not going, I’m going to dance down the street if he’s ‘picked’ to go to jail.”
