The April dates for the Coachella Pageant 2021 have been formally canceled because of rising COVID-19 numbers in California
Roommate, if you were hoping the popular Coachella music festival would return in 2021, then we have bad news. With an alarming spike in COVID-19 cases in California, the April dates for the Coachella Festival have been officially canceled for safety and security reasons.
The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and Stagecoach Country Music Festival, both scheduled for April, have been canceled due to a new Riverside County health officer in California.
The order was given by Riverside County’s Health Officer Dr. Cameron Kaiser, granted, “based on concerns about a fallback Covid-19 resurgence both within County Riverside and globally.” According to the Order, both music festivals attract “hundreds of thousands of visitors from many countries” which would almost certainly lead to an increase in the spread of the coronavirus.
“If COVID-19 were detected at these festivals, the size, number of attendees and the type of venue would make it impossible, if not impossible, to track down those who may be at risk,” added Dr. Emperor added.
As you may know, both events, Coachella in particular, are two of the largest music festivals in Southern California that take place annually – although both were also canceled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is currently unknown whether or when the dates for the festivals will be postponed.
