Steve Bannon and Mark Meadows subpoenas present the 1/6 committee for Trump is coming
The subpoenas issued for Steve Bannon, Mark Meadows, and two others indicate that the 1/6 Committee would like information from those speaking to Trump.
The 1/6 Committee wrote in a statement:
During his tenure as White House Chief of Staff, Mark Meadows reportedly communicated with state officials and the Justice Department in an attempt to overturn the 2020 election results or prevent the election from being certified. According to other reports, Mr. Meadows was also in contact with organizers of the January 6 rally, including Amy Kremer of Women for America First. The Special Committee previously sought White House records on Mr Meadows, including his actions and communications, as well as information he received on the results and integrity of the 2020 election.
Former White House deputy chief of staff, Daniel Scavino, reportedly met with the former president on Jan. 5 to discuss how to convince Congressmen not to confirm the election for Joe Biden. Prior to January 6 for Trump, Mr. Scavino promoted the event on Twitter and encouraged people to “be part of the story”. And records show that Mr Scavino tweeted news from the White House on January 6, 2021.
At the time of the January 6 attack, Kashyap Patel was Chief of Staff to incumbent Defense Secretary Christopher Miller. The former president appointed Mr. Patel to this position on November 10, one day after Mark Esper, then Secretary of Defense, replaced him. According to Defense Department documents and published reports, Mr. Patel was involved in discussions between senior Pentagon officials about security at the Capitol on January 6, 2021, and told a reporter that he was speaking to Mr. Meadows “continuously that day.” The Special Committee previously obtained information about steps taken at the Pentagon to protect national security before and after January 6, including the role of Mr. Patel and his communications with other Pentagon officials.
It was also reported that the former president attempted to appoint Mr. Patel as deputy director of the Central Intelligence Agency in early December, but that proposed appointment was abandoned after then-CIA director Gina Haspel threatened to resign. The Select Committee has previously obtained a record of potential or actual staff changes in the final months of the previous tenure, including the appointment of Mr. Patel to the Department of Defense and his reported possible appointment to the CIA.
Stephen Bannon reportedly communicated with former President Trump on December 30, 2020, telling him to focus his efforts on January 6. Mr Bannon also reportedly attended a meeting at the Willard Hotel on January 5, 2021 to convince members of Congress to block confirmation of the election the next day. Mr Bannon is also quoted as saying, Jan. 5, that “[a]Tomorrow all hell will break loose. “
The 1/6 committee has summoned people all related to Trump.
The common thread running through each of the four subpoenas is that before and / or during the attack on the Capitol on Aug.
The committee probably wants to know what Trump said before and during the uprising he started to overturn a losing election.
The 1/6 committee comes for Trump. You consider the role that the former president and his administration played in the attack.
Justice could prevail for those who attacked democracy to keep a corrupt president in power.
