Biles jumped in just one turn before falling off the floor due to a “medical problem,” USA Gymnastics announced on Tuesday, July 27th. The four-time gold medalist who said she felt “the weight of the world”. “On her shoulders at the Games, officially withdrew from the finals, which sparked a surge of support from athletes and celebrities.
Hours after news of her exit broke, Biles’ appearance aired on NBC’s Vault, allowing fans at home to cheer her on during her only rotation. She qualified for all rounds and, according to NBC News, should participate in the individual rounds, floor exercise, bars, uneven bars, and jump rounds.
The 24-year-old superstar took a deep breath as she prepared for the jump. She completed a 1.5 turn on a 2.5-turn Yurchenko and fumbled her landing, earning her a score of 13.766 out of 15.8.
