Republicans in free fall as nearly all of Individuals need vaccination mandates
A new Gallup poll shows the majority of Americans want vaccination requirements for people to go to work, eat at a restaurant, or fly.
A majority of Americans support vaccine mandates.
According to Gallup, 61% of Americans are in favor of a vaccination mandate for flying on a plane, 56% for commuting to work, 53% for staying at a hotel or dining in a restaurant, and 58% for attending a high-volume event .
The level of support has increased in four of the five categories with the exception of requiring a vaccine as this was the first time the question was asked.
Between 75% and 80% of the opposition in each category come from the unvaccinated, and 71 to 79% of the opposition are Republicans.
Republicans pay a political price for resisting the vaccination mandate
In Texas, the opponent of the vaccination mandate, Governor Greg Abbott, has hit an all-time low. In Florida, vaccination mandate opponent Governor Ron DeSantis has seen his net approval rate fall 14 points to below 50%.
It’s the same mistake that cost Trump the presidency. Republicans play on their base, but their base is not the majority of the country.
The Republican opposition to vaccination mandates has them on the wrong side on an important issue and is losing ground every day.
If vaccine mandates are a key issue at halftime, the GOP’s opposition to the vaccination request could haunt them in 2022.
