Rep. Cawthorn said that Buncombe, NC School Board that they muzzled children by requiring them to wear masks.
The Congressman added: “You have sacrificed the social, emotional and psychological development of our children on the altar of wakefulness. This school council has no right to wrest responsibility from the citizens. The family should always stand before the government. They don’t know any better than the parents in my district …. The greatest threat to our children today does not come from COVID-19. It comes from bright liberal government officials like you who think they are all-knowing and all-wise. “
Protecting children from COVID is now a major government interference
Rep. Cawthorn’s argument is that parents have the right to spread COVID and give it to their children. Cawthorn argues that parents have the right to potentially kill their children and other innocent children who might go to school with unmasked infected children.
Cawthorn’s utterances were modern conservative ideologies driven to their most delusional utterances. Parents cannot vote during a pandemic. Public health comes before personal responsibility.
Republicans argue that children’s health should be sacrificed for political gain.
The Republican Party is now the COVID Child Risk Party.
