Kate Middleton and Prince William shared a new photo by Princess Charlotte make a little friend.
A picture posted on the couple’s Instagram page on Saturday, August 7, shows the 6-year-old girl cradling a red admiral butterfly. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge shared the post, which also includes two close-up shots of butterflies to promote a new campaign by the UK charity Butterfly Conservation encouraging people to submit a log of daily butterfly sightings to promote the health of their local residents assess environment.
“We wanted to share these beautiful peacock and Red Admiral butterflies across the UK as part of the Big #ButterflyCount initiative,” said Kate and William’s Instagram post. “@savebutterflies encourages us all to count these incredible creatures because, in addition to being beautiful creatures, they’re extremely important. Butterflies are vital parts of the ecosystem as pollinators and components of the food chain. Hopefully you can beat last year’s grand total, @savebutterflies. “
