Pentagon orders all service members to get vaccinated “instantly”
COVID-19 vaccinations for the U.S. military are mandatory.
According to the Washington Post, the Pentagon is demanding that active and reserve military personnel be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
This comes after the Food and Drug Administration approved the Pfizer / BioNTech coronavirus vaccine this week.
According to @cnn, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said in a memo: “After careful consultation with medical experts and the military leadership, and with the support of the President, I have determined that mandatory vaccination against Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is necessary to to protect power and defend the American people, ”he wrote.
He added, “To defend this nation, we need a healthy and operational force.”
Austin also stated that he is directing the Department of Military Services to “immediately begin a full vaccination” of the armed forces, the standby reserve and even the National Guard.
It was also noted that the military “should impose ambitious implementation schedules”.
According to @ap, Pentagon data shows more than 800,000 service members failed to receive the vaccine.
Those who oppose the vaccine must sit down with their leadership and a doctor “to discuss the risks their objection poses to the unit, the force and their teammates”.
