But Ohio’s Mike DeWine takes that idea to the next level. On Wednesday, the Republican announced that the state would be giving away $ 1 million to a happy vaccinated resident on five separate occasions.
The governor went to Twitter and wrote: “Two weeks from tonight, May 26th, we will announce a winner in a separate drawing for adults who have received at least their first dose of the vaccine. This announcement will be made every Wednesday for five weeks and the winner will receive one million dollars every Wednesday. “

DeWine also explained why he thought this was a necessary step for the state and where the money would be coming from. “The Ohio Department of Health will be the sponsorship agency for the drawings, and the Ohio Lottery will run them. The money will come from existing federal coronavirus relief funds, ”he wrote.
