Norman Lear receives the Carol Burnett Award on the 2021 Golden Globe Awards

On Thursday, January 28, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced that the 98-year-old screenwriter and producer will receive the Carol Burnett Award at the 2021 Golden Globes.
In a statement, the association noted Lear’s many accomplishments and contributions to Hollywood. “Norman Lear is one of the most productive creators of this generation,” said HFPA President Ali Sar. “His career spanned both the Golden Age and the Streaming Era, when his progressive approach to addressing controversial issues through humor sparked a cultural shift that made it possible to reflect social and political issues on television. Former recipients of the award are Carol Burnett and Ellen DeGeneres.
