New York Governor Andrew Cuomo will hold a press conference on the coronavirus pandemic on Friday as the state continues its vaccination efforts.

On Thursday, the Democratic governor’s office announced that vaccine distributors have given 93% of the first Covid-19 vaccine doses and 91% of the first and second doses. Both Pfizer and Moderna drugs require two doses, weeks apart.

Cuomo said the state has increased the number of shots he can fire in a day, but now officials fear they will run out of shots if the federal government stops sending.

“We are trying to get the vaccine out as soon as possible and we are doing everything we can to keep the infection rate down. We have made progress on both fronts since the post-holiday surge, but there is still a long way to go before we get to the light . ” the end of the tunnel, “Cuomo said in a statement.
