Lil Nas X indicated through his song and his pictures that the mockery of the controversial “devil’s shoes” actually comes from people’s homophobia towards him.
The video contained images, including inmates in pink prison uniforms and a shower scene in which Nas X and his dancers are all naked.
Lil Nas X has been lauded for his marketing genius and for always being himself, but of course Nas X had his critics and one of the most vocal was Dr. Boyce Watkins.
Watkins shared a very critical tweet about Lil Nas X’s video, claiming that he was marketing “sexual irresponsibility” that leads young men to die of AIDS.
“#LilNasX doesn’t fight for gay rights. He markets the sexual irresponsibility that leads young men to die of AIDS. Being gay is one thing, but being a super spreader is another. There is nothing healthy or helpful about this video. Especially for children, ”said Dr. Boyce Watkins.
In Lil Nas X’s defense, before the video was released, he warned parents that it was not suitable for children.
Lil Nas X fired back with a tweet calling Watkins on in his testimony for the hypocrisy.
“You will be silly as hell if N *** as devote their entire music catalog to rapping about sleeping with multiple women, but if I do anything remotely sexual I am ‘sexually irresponsible’ and ’cause more men to get AIDS die. “” You hate gay people and you don’t hide it. “
