Parenthood is one of the most rewarding “hoods” to partake of, and according to Laverne Cox, parenting is “the most important job on the planet”. Despite the pros, Laverne recently shared that she has no interest in playing that role in life.
The actress visited her Instagram account with a solemn message to the people in her life who recently became parents and announced that she never wants to be one.
“I see so many friends and colleagues becoming parents. I’m so happy for all of you, ”she wrote. “I’m even more happy for myself, even that I’m NOT going to be a parent, never, never. The thought gives me so much pleasure! “
She went on to say that she wants to focus on creating a better childhood for herself, despite the joy she has of seeing loved ones become parents.
“Enjoy the most important job in the world, raising children. I enjoy watching you from afar, ”she wrote. “I do the job of raising my inner child anew. That is more than enough work. “
Laverne has been pretty open with fans about her childhood and the work she has done to overcome the struggles she has faced. When she spoke to Zac Posen in 2018, she said that the biggest challenge for her as an adult is to truly take care of herself.
“I think a lot got out of my way,” she said. “To overcome all the doubts I have created in my head. I internalize a lot of the voices of the bullies who said I could never do this and that and really, really be very hard on myself and dim the light that I always had. “
Although Laverne said that she does not want to have children of her own, we wish her all the best on this path to care for her inner child.
