Kevin Costner and his spouse Christine are separating after 18 years of marriage

Kevin Costner rides alone into the sunset.

The Yellowstone Star and his wife Christine Baumgartner, have parted ways after 18 years of marriage, his rep confirms to E! News.

“It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have arisen which have resulted in Mr. Costner having to attend a lawsuit for the dissolution of his marriage,” a spokesman for Kevin said in a May 2 statement. “We ask that the privacy of him, Christine and their children be respected as they navigate this difficult time.”

In their respective divorce papers, Kevin and Christine filed for joint custody of their children — sons cayden15 and hay14, as well as daughter Gracefulness, 12 – according to documents obtained by TMZ, which first reported the breakup news. (The Field of Dreams graduate is also a father to four adult children — sons yeah And liam and daughters annie And lily– from his previous relationships.)

According to the outlet, Christine cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the breakup on her filing, while Kevin noted that a prenuptial agreement is in place.
