Keshia Knight Pulliam welcomed her son during her birthday week
Keshia Knight Pulliam celebrated her 44th birthday on April 9th. The actor shared on Instagram that her birthday week was “more eventful” than she thought. She then revealed that she recently gave birth to her first child together with James.
The actor shared a short video showing a few moments before the birth. She also wrote a brief caption accompanying the clip.
“With this little one we are complete… Happy Birthday!!! What an eventful birthday week… Thanks for the birthday wishes!!”
Pulliam also included a family photo as the video’s cover photo. It showed herself, James, their 6-year-old daughter Ella, who she shares with her ex Ed Hartwell, and the newborn – whose name has not yet been revealed.
In December, the couple announced their pregnancy
As previously reported by The Shade Room, the couple revealed their pregnancy during an appearance on The Tamron Hall Show in December. Pulliam revealed her baby bump by uploading a short video to her Instagram page.
“Oh Baby Baby!! Baby James is coming in 2023!!”
During the actor’s interview with Hall, she explained why she chose to keep the news a secret until this point.
“Not that I’ve tried to hide it, but if you’ve had a miscarriage – if you’ve been through his journey – you just want to enjoy that moment and make sure everything’s okay. So we didn’t hide it. I went and did life and lived. But in terms of an announcement, we just didn’t.”
However, when Pulliam finally shared the news, he felt good.
“It feels good because I know so many people have been on this journey with us.”
Keshia Knight Pulliam previously detailed her fertility journey
During an interview with E! News earlier this month, Pulliam spoke candidly about her fertility journey leading up to her pregnancy. She explained that she is even considering freezing her eggs in 2020. However, the decision was halted by the outbreak of COVID-19.
“I was 41 at the time and knew I wanted another child, but I knew it wasn’t now. I started freezing my eggs and then literally was the day I was supposed to start my medication as they stopped all elective medical procedures due to the pandemic. I couldn’t go on like this. It’s insane that upholding your right and ability to have a baby is considered a compulsory choice. It shouldn’t. It should be an option open to all women.”
