Psaki said on Inside With Jen Psaki after playing clips of Republicans defending law enforcement during the George Floyd protests and then arguing that law enforcement needs to be disempowered now that Trump is in legal trouble:
Republicans appear to have come full circle, and after all their fear-mongering it turns out they’re the ones looking to disappoint law enforcement. Remember, the job of the Department of Justice isn’t just to file abstract legal writs, it’s to protect our country. This sentence is literally in their mission statement.
They also oversee the FBI, which deals with national and international terrorism, organized crime, white-collar crime, as well as the ATF, which plays a major role in fighting drug cartels but wants to limit or defund these so-called law and order advocates and make cuts , those are her words, no
mean, those same agencies, so it’s not just Republican rhetoric, it’s their actions.
After the Jan. 6 riot, 21 House Republicans voted against awarding the Congressional Gold Medal to the very officers who protected their lives and visited many of the Jan. 6 indictees currently incarcerated. Indeed, Donald Trump’s own budget during his last year in office suggested cutting funding for local law enforcement agencies. If you’re concerned about crime and want law enforcement to be fully funded and supported, then you should direct your outrage only at the Maga Republicans, and they are now the indicted leader.
Republicans have been trying to quash law enforcement for a number of years, but their efforts have accelerated after the Capitol attack and have become even more urgent as Trump drowns in legal issues.
On Sunday, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said Republicans are embarking on a crime wave.
The real law and order party is definitely not the one led by the defendant.
The Republican Party’s stance on law and order is a cloak for lawlessness and chaos.
