Jackée Harry remembers brushing Kenya Barris off again then

Jackée Harry recently opened up about how her treatment of Kenya Barris at the time may have cost her a gig or two, despite Twitter being firmly on her side!

Jackée Harry let her ego get the best of her: ‘I wasn’t nice to him’

Things came up while Jackée was chatting with Sheryl Lee Ralph about a digital Essence feature. During the sit-down, Sheryl addressed the importance of being nice to everyone, even if they just bring you coffee, because you never know where they’ll be in the future.

“How many times in the next five to ten years has the young person who brought me coffee become a producer. Oh, I saw that.”

Sheryl added, “You have to suppress that ego and really have someone talk you off the cliff.”

Jackée then chimed in, revealing that back when she was starring in 227, she may have broken a bridge by not being kind to Kenya Barris, who was supplying her scripts at the time.

“Well, I wasn’t talked off the cliff. You know who used to bring and deliver my scripts for 227 to my door? Kenya Barris.”

She continued, noting that she “wasn’t nice to him” — and Kenya didn’t let her forget that!

“I wasn’t nice to him. you see, look at me now I don’t lie – and he reminded me!”

Jackée eventually brushed off her behavior by nonchalantly saying, “It was the ’80s baby!”

Twitter supports Jackée & speculates Kenya Barris must make it come

As Jackée’s comments began to circulate, people on Twitter started chiming in and siding with the actress. They explained that “Kenya probably had bad vibes” and “needs” to be bullied more.

In Jackee’s defence, Kenya probably had bad vibes.

Many cited Kenya’s work – which led to allegations that he had a “biracial obsession,” The Shade Room previously reported – as justification for how Jackée treated him.

Jacketé is wonderful and Kenya’s public biracial obsession is a boil in the ass of the black community.

She wasn’t wrong, idc https://t.co/7MwGoNnmqT

For this reason, Jackeé was rightfully a little rude to Kenya during 227 https://t.co/J7h0eAaghS

So can we blame Jackeé for forcing all of our viewers to watch Kenya Barris’ rainbow coalition of biracial media?? 😂 https://t.co/x6bicB4fM8

Overall, users loved that Jackée was “Kenya Barris’ villain origin story” and felt they “made the right decision.”

Jackeé being the villainous origin story of Kenya Barris I find hilarious https://t.co/MJM2KeDoXD
