Followers debate whether or not Usher might pull off a Tremendous Bowl halftime present
Of course, with Rihanna’s long-awaited Super Bowl performance in the rearview mirror, people are buzzing about who’s going to deliver the next halftime show. However, when people started suggesting that Usher should take the honors, one user shared a hot take that quickly sparked some controversy!
A user asked if Usher has enough “pop/hip-hop hits”.
As people began to hype the idea of Usher’s likely halftime appearance in the future, one user chimed in by announcing that she doesn’t think “he’s got enough pop/hip-hop hits” to make it happen do.
“I know y’all think Usher should play the next SB, but I don’t think he has enough pop/hip-hop hits.”
I know you all think Usher should play the next SB but I don’t think he has enough pop/hip hop hits. 🫤

Twitter defends Usher’s honor
Immediately, the Twitter crowds refined the user’s statement and they started bouncing off the quote tweets!
Many users expressed their utter disbelief at the idea that Usher would not be able to put on an outstanding performance at the Super Bowl.
You guys respect Usher so much that Beyoncé isn’t the only colleague in this music shit. It’s so damn crazy to me. He’s every bit as much a performer as she is and MUCH better than JLO. But y’all wanna think he didn’t make the Super Bowl??? With his DISCOGRAPHY?!

Others stated that Usher has more than enough popular jams for a great halftime show.
Here’s why you should often stay out of music conversations
1. Pop hits = POPULAR hits
2. Pop hits can fall into any genre as long as it’s POPular
3. Usher’s has included 52 songs on the Billboard Top 100. 18 songs were top 10 hits. 9 songs were number 1
so yes he has enough https://t.co/HCEVKu516o

It has also been claimed that according to some of the artists who have performed over the past few years, Usher more than deserves the honor.

OP doubles down: “Beyoncé would be a better choice”
All of this backlash resulted in the original poster leaving a response, calling the critics “intentionally obtuse.” She also addressed her initial statement by clarifying that it is “not a dissent against Usher the artist.” Instead, she just didn’t think he had “enough *pop* hits for a *13* minute medley performance.”
She ended by proclaiming, “Beyoncé would be a better choice.”
You are all willfully dull. Not R&B. Pop. crossover hits. He doesn’t have enough *pop* hits for a *13* minute medley performance. It’ll be fine. This is not a diss for the artist Usher. Because you don’t think they would have considered him? 🙄. Beyoncé would be a better choice.
— Dear Ashley… (@asj519) February 13, 2023
Do you think Usher is a good contender for a future Super Bowl halftime show? Also, do you think R&B has a place at these events, or should they stick with pop and hip-hop acts?
