Last summer, Congress candidate Kim Klacik released a campaign video of her walking the streets of Baltimore. The ad, titled Black Lives Don’t Matter to Democrats, quickly went viral in conservative circles.
Republicans were quick to promote the candidate when Donald Trump shared her ad on Twitter, saying he was excited to work with her. Klacik quickly raised over $ 8 million to fund her campaign. But she never really had a real chance of winning. In fact, she lost her election against Kweisi Mfume with 72% points.
To stay politically relevant, Klacik sparked a feud with conservative expert Candace Owens. Owens came out with guns blazing, claiming Klacik was a former stripper and her charity was fraudulent. Now the failed candidate is suing Owens for $ 20 million.
Jacob Frenkel, Klacik’s attorney, said in a statement: “Unfounded character assassination has no place in political dialogue. The defendant chose to use her massive social media platform to attack a respected Baltimore political figure; we are using the right forum – the powers of the courts – to respond. The detail in Ms. Klacik’s lawsuit speaks for itself. “
Klacik also said in a recent interview with Armstrong Williams: “if [Owens] was the detective she claims to be, she would know that all the clubs in Baltimore City have been closed because of the Baltimore pandemic. So there was no way to celebrate in a club or launder money in a completely closed club. “
This feud isn’t good news for the GOP. The duo are perhaps the two most prominent African American Republicans in the country today.
