Each time the 2023 Oscars addressed Will Smith’s notorious slap within the face
You better believe the 2023 Oscars will be talking about it.
One year later Will Smith made headlines for slapping the presenter Chris Rock At the Dolby Theater, this year’s show couldn’t help but address the scandal in a unique way.
Jimmy Kimmel began his monologue by reminding the audience that everyone wants them to be safe. “We have strict guidelines,” he said. “If someone commits an act of violence in this theater at any point during the show, you will be awarded the Academy Award for Best Actor and given a 19-minute speech.”
But seriously, the academy has now set up a crisis response team in case things get a little shocking.
“If something unpredictable or violent happens during the ceremony, just do what you did last year. Nothing,” Jimmy joked. “Sit there and do absolutely nothing. You might even hug the attacker.
