Please don’t call it a comeback! Just when it seems like there aren’t any male R&B groups around, some Chicagoans are trying to change the current narrative of R&B music. Carl Thomas, Dave Hollister and Donell Jones are the men we can thank for getting it back!

The pop singers are no stranger to the R&B industry and made an important announcement on Saturday. Donell Jones announced on his Instagram that the three men have formed a new supergroup called “The Chi” to honor their hometown of Chicago.

Every man has collectively created songs that have become timeless staples in culture. You can’t mention good R&B without giving some ‘respect’ to Donell’s 1999 hit, ‘Where I wanna be’. All three songs are up to date to this day! Over 10,000 fans of the R&B singers went off in our comments.

Entrepreneur Miss Bling Miami walked into The Shade Room and commented, “Omggg, this is a major. A real super group. I can’t wait! ”Another roommate commented and brought up the former R&B group TGT. “That’ll be fine. I miss it when men gasp and sing out loud in music videos. Hopefully this isn’t another tank, Ginuwine and Tyrese.”

If you remember, the men of TGT got together in 2007 and released their debut album “Three Kings” in 2013. The album did well and debuted at number 1 on the Top R&B / Hip-Hop Albums Chart. Although the group was successful, it didn’t take long. Unfortunately, the group broke up in 2015.
