Biden is blasting Republicans for complaining about his new pupil mortgage reduction

In a statement, President Biden called out Republicans complaining about his new $39 billion student loan forgiveness measure.

The President said in a statement:

I’ve long said that college should be a ticket to the middle class – not a burden that burdens families for decades.

My government honors that commitment. As of today, more than 800,000 student borrowers who have repaid their loans for 20 years or more are facing $39 billion in loan payments because my government has taken steps to correct past mistakes. These borrowers will join the millions of people my administration has given relief to over the past two years – resulting in over $116 billion in credit relief for over 3 million borrowers under my administration.

But we don’t stop there. My administration has been hard at work securing the biggest increases in Pell grants in a decade, fixing broken loan programs like Public Service Loan Forgiveness, and creating a new earnings-related repayment schedule that will halve bachelor’s loan payments and monthly payments raises zero for low-income borrowers. And when the Supreme Court made the wrong decision, I immediately announced a new plan to give as many borrowers as possible an alternative path to relief as quickly as possible.

Republican lawmakers—who didn’t mind the government forgiving millions of dollars on their own business loans—did everything to keep me from giving relief to hard-working Americans. Some are even protesting against the measures we announced today, which promise but never deliver relief to borrowers, even after decades of making payments. The hypocrisy is startling and the disregard for working class and middle class families is outrageous.

As long as I’m in office, I will continue to work to bring the promise of college to every American.

There’s a reason Biden raised a record amount of funds for his re-election campaign in the second quarter. TThose who pay attention to popularity or horseracing metrics might overlook it, but Joe Biden speaks up for the people, and voters have proven throughout his tenure that when Biden and the Democrats deliver, they are rewarded in the election .

Biden has identified a powerful problem with student loans, which he has used to illustrate the difference in priorities between himself and Republicans.

Republicans complain about anything that helps working people and the middle class.

President Biden knows where his potential constituents are, and he is doing everything in his power to help them.
